la ranita, aguimes

City of Aguimes, the old town, very pleasant and quiet place. Old houses, sculptures. Very nice place. In one of the narrow street little shop, closed of course, La Ranita. Means “frog” in english. For me it’s little comic, but, I believe, not everybody see it funny :)

villa de aguimes

We’re on a way from Vecindario to Carrizal, travelling by old local road. On our right we’re passing a building looking like a church. When we look closer we’ll see it’s a art-center. Of course it’s closed. Behind the wall we can see huge windmill. Seems to be very old. As I said - museum is closed, and as always there’s no information about opening hours, so we’re leaving this place and continuoing our trip on the north…

las canteras sculpture, las palmas de gran canaria

This is one of the sculpture on Las Canteras promenade. In Las Palmas of course. It shows the swimming people as you can surely see ;) In my opinion - author had a good idea to make it this way: looks maybe strange, but interesting.

air condition in church in Castillo del Romeral

As I wrote before, on a Canary Islands is rather hot. The temperatures are high, most of the year it’s approximate 25-30 degrees. So mejority of people buy to their houses air condition. Of course most of shops, restaurants, etc. have also air condition to encourage people to come in.

And, as you can see above - so does the churches ;)

center of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

This is it - centre of Las Palmas, a sea avenue at Las Canteras Beach. Nice buildings, nice promenade full of restaurants and smiling people. And in the center of this - a ruine, the old building, walls painted in graffiti and, what’s interesting, a big palm tree inside :D

A lift calculator ;)

an elevator in Meloneras

This is the interior of elevator in Meloneras (Meloneras is the district near Maspalomas). When I first saw it I couldn’t say a word. This table looks like a calculator!

The most funny thing in this is fact that building, where this lift is placed, has no more then 4 floors ;)

Pack of cards

pack of big cards

A holiday resort in Taurito, lazy sunny day at the swimming pool. And two women playing cards. You’d say: so what? what’s wrong with that?
Actually nothing, but.. the size of the cards? Doesn’t look a little bit unusual? ;)

And tell me: How to shuffle cards like that? ;)

A sign to museum

museum sign - san bartolome de tirajana

San Bartolome de Tirajana - a destination in our todays trip. Village placed high above in the mountains. Very pleasant and nice. But of course I had to find Something. And sometimes I think I attract things like that, because it’s not normal to see so many mistakes/differences/distincness in such little place.
Today it was a sign, giving you direction how to get to Museum. I think I don’t have to comment it ;) Just look up yourself

Air condition ;)

air condition at canarias

And this is what I found in the building next to mine - a pipe in the center of the window!
Always been thought that when you arranging your air condition inside your house you make it unvisible to another. But here, as you can see, is completely different. “Let everybody see that we have it” ;)

Mountain of Rubbish or Canarians Recycling?

ojos de garza

Another strange place. Going through the island we’re passing plenty of little villages, not rather turistic places. And this time it wasn’t different. We arrived to Ojos de Garza. Very little, very quiet. Just few buildings, a little access to the sea, not even a beach. And Something.
It looks like an artistic mountain of rubbish ;). Maybe it’s just a place that collects things to recycle it, I don’t really know.
But look at it - an old fountain, a monument and .. an old toilet sink ;) Doesn’t look strange?
